Namyang Dairy partners Phu Thai to expand infant formula in Vietnam

The deal is expected to provide a stable revenue base in the Vietnamese market and support the company’s broader global growth strategy.

VIETNAM – Namyang Dairy Products has partnered with Phu Thai Group, Vietnam’s largest distribution company, to expand its infant formula business.

Under the partnership agreement, Namyang will export $20 million worth of infant formula to Vietnam over three years.

Namyang emphasized that partnering with a distributor with proven management capabilities is essential, as consumer trust in product safety and quality is a key factor in infant formula purchases.

The company has previously operated its infant formula business successfully in Cambodia.

“The deal is a strategic collaboration to build a stable, trust-based infant formula business in Vietnam,” said Kim Seung-eon, chief executive officer of Namyang Dairy Products. “It is also a stepping stone for our global expansion.”

Betagen unveils plan to build first plant in Vietnam

Meanwhile, Betagen, a Thai-based dairy brand, announced plans to build its first manufacturing plant in Vietnam, located in the southern province of Dong Nai, expanding its footprint.

The company recently signed a long-term lease agreement for nearly 35,000 square meters of land in the An Phuoc Industrial Park, valid until 2062. Savills Vietnam has supported Betagen in identifying and selecting a suitable investment site since 2019.

Kitti Sawangarom, CEO of Betagen Vietnam, said the construction of the company’s first plant in Vietnam marks a significant step in its regional expansion and reinforces its long-term commitment to the country.

The An Phuoc Industrial Park, owned and managed by Tin Nghia Corporation, is roughly a 60-minute drive from Ho Chi Minh City and near Long Thanh International Airport, with strong connections to major highways and key seaports.

According to John Campbell, head of industrial services at Savills Vietnam, Dong Nai continues to lead the southern key economic region in industrial development and remains one of the top destinations for newly registered manufacturing FDI

Betagen’s project, he noted, reflects foreign manufacturers’ confidence in the region’s potential.

Chi Phan, manager of industrial real estate at Savills Vietnam, also expressed strong confidence in Vietnam’s capacity to attract large-scale investors like Betagen.

“Developed infrastructure, competitive supply chains, and a skilled workforce continue to help Vietnam attract global manufacturers, especially in the food and beverage sector,” she emphasized.

Betagen has expanded its presence through exports to Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, and Laos, and has built a strong foothold in Vietnam.
