The landmark research will be based on Portugal start-up CarboCode’s synthetic ganglioside GM3, which is “identical” to the form found in human milk.
The company states that the formula utilizes whole milk fats and excludes palm oil, soy, corn syrup, and maltodextrin.
Milk formula companies use aggressive digital marketing, including social media influencers to convince parents to choose formula over breastfeeding.
The product, developed over three years, became available in April 2025.
