Danone India, NIFTEM sign NDA to combat iron and protein deficiencies

This initiative builds on Danone’s broader global efforts, including its Iron Up! program, which targets iron deficiency anemia in children through awareness, partnerships, and innovative nutritional products.

INDIA – The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Kundli, has signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) with Danone India to jointly address the pressing issue of iron and protein deficiencies in the country.

The agreement, signed on 1 September 2025, marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration focused on advancing public health through food-based solutions.

As part of this collaboration, the first joint initiative titled “Health Through Food: Smart Nutrition for Health with Innovation” will be launched to promote awareness and adoption of healthier dietary practices.

The program will educate consumers on key themes such as: pump up your iron power, for a healthy routine, trust iron and protein, add the right protein to your health regime and elevate through a balanced plate.

This partnership aligns with the celebration of National Nutrition Month, themed “Eat Right for a Better Life,” reinforcing the shared commitment of both institutions to improve the nutritional well-being of India’s population.

Recently, Danone India launched DEXOGROW, a specially formulated nutritious milk drink designed for toddlers aged 2-6 years.

DEXOGROW is powered by Iron Biotics, a breakthrough innovation that contains nutrients to support 3X iron absorption, which in turn plays a crucial role in cognitive development in young children.

According to the company, two in every three children in India suffer from iron deficiency or anaemia—conditions often linked to developmental delays, weakened immunity, and learning challenges.

With Dexogrow, the company intends to not only plug a critical nutritional gap but also spark awareness about the essential role of iron in early childhood growth.

Additionally, the milk contains a blend of 36 essential nutrients, including vitamins A, C and Zinc to boost immunity, along with DHA, ARA, and iron to promote brain health. The formula also features prebiotics to support gut health and comes with a clean-label promise: no sugar, no preservatives, and no artificial flavours.

The new product underscores Danone’s mission to deliver health through food to as many people as possible. With nationwide rollout across both physical and online retail channels, Danone aims to make Dexogrow accessible to all families, regardless of geography.
