Milky Mist introduces lactose-free milk

The company expects the high protein lactose-free milk to be an important addition to its portfolio as it continues to expand its presence in the high-protein segment.

INDIA – Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited has expanded its high-protein product portfolio by launching Milky Mist High Protein Lactose-free Milk.

In the high-protein milk category, the product is available in a convenient 250 ml pack and delivers 25 g of protein, equivalent to more than 30% of the recommended dietary allowance (RDA).

It is intended for consumers seeking higher protein intake through their everyday diet and is being introduced in the domestic market through select trade channels, with distribution expected to expand progressively.

The launch builds on the growing demand for high-protein products across Milky Mist’s portfolio.

Over the past couple of years, the company has witnessed approximately 50% year-on-year growth in demand across products such as High Protein Paneer, Greek Yogurt and Skyr.

The company noted that the introduction of high protein lactose-free milk further strengthens the company’s presence in this category and expands its offerings to address evolving consumer preferences.

The product is manufactured using ultra-filtration technology, which enables a specialised filtration process to develop high-protein dairy products.

This technology-led approach differentiates the product from formulations that rely on adding protein to an existing product.

Milky Mist expects this approach to support product quality and consumer acceptance as demand for high-protein options continues to grow.

Dr. K Rathnam, Wholetime Director and Chief Executive Officer, Milky Mist Dairy Food Limited, said, “High-protein dairy is a significant growth opportunity for Milky Mist, and we see strong potential to further develop this segment.

“The launch of High Protein Lactose-free Milk reflects our commitment to driving innovation, expanding our value-added portfolio and responding to evolving consumer needs. Consumers are increasingly looking for products that bring together nutrition and convenience, and our latest launch responds to this shift.”

With established processing capabilities and technology-led manufacturing infrastructure, Milky Mist is positioned to scale production to meet market demand.

The new product follows the company’s 10% rise to US$2.08 (₹199.65) on August 19, 2026, when its shares hit the upper circuit on the National Stock Exchange.

The rise followed the company’s market debut, when its shares listed at US$1.72 (₹165), well above the IPO issue price of US$1.46 (₹140). The latest move has pushed the stock more than 40% above its issue price in its first two trading sessions.
