AUSTRALIA – Pure Dairy is set to enter the Australian dairy sector with the upcoming launch of its state-of-the-art manufacturing and cheese processing facility, slated for production in April 2025.
Located in Dandenong South’s industrial precinct, the 13,000-square-metre facility is nearing completion, with structural work completed and advanced automated processing equipment being installed.
According to the company, this facility will introduce cutting-edge technology that has not been seen previously in Australia.
“We’re incredibly excited to see this come together,” said Adrian Josephson, Executive Chairman of Pure Dairy.
“For over ten years, we’ve been liaising closely with clients to perfect their businesses across every area of dairy, right around the world.”
In addition, he noted that they have therefore gained the insights required to combine the most efficient equipment and best practices in a facility of their own.
“Pure Dairy’s new factory is the physical expression of our international thought leadership – a major asset to every stakeholder in Australian dairy.”
Key milestones in the construction include the completion of the main structure and the initiation of internal fit-outs, which encompass the development of a test kitchen aimed at fostering dairy innovation.
The installation of fully automated processing systems is expected to significantly enhance operational efficiency and ensure consistent quality across product lines.
In line with global trends, the facility will also incorporate energy- and water-saving technologies, demonstrating a commitment to environmental responsibility in production processes.
Looking ahead, the next phases will focus on finalizing equipment installation and conducting operational tests to ensure that all systems meet strict quality and efficiency standards before full-scale operations commence.
Once operational, the facility will produce a diverse range of premium products, including both plant-based and traditional dairy items such as mozzarella, cheddar, and specialty cheeses, targeting both domestic and international markets.
This project is projected to create over 100 new jobs, significantly contributing to the local economy in Melbourne’s southeastern region and providing new opportunities for Pure Dairy’s network of suppliers and manufacturing partners.
Josephson expressed confidence in the potential of Australian dairy, stating, “Pure Dairy is passionate about local produce. We also see a wealth of untapped potential for Australian dairy on both the domestic and international markets.”
“Beyond the positive economic impact on the local community, Pure Dairy’s new facility is set to reinvigorate our position as a leading nation in the supply of high-quality dairy products.”
In a significant move to bolster its growth, Pure Dairy has partnered with Great Lakes Cheese, a US-based natural and processed cheese packager, marking its first investment outside America.
In a statement, Mark Anderson, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Great Lakes Cheese, remarked on the potential of this partnership, indicating impression made by Pure Dairy’s existing global footprint.
“Their strong relationships and deep understanding of individual markets assured us that Pure Dairy is the right partner for us.”
Over the past decade, Pure Dairy has transitioned from a local business to a global player, building a trading network across 72 countries and opening four international offices.
The new Victorian facility, strategically located near dairy producers and Port Melbourne’s export hub, will house research and development (R&D), manufacturing, logistics, and Pure Dairy’s corporate offices.
