Lacprodan® BLG-100 Acidic is a flexible choice, enabling more high-quality protein, superior appeal and endless variety from one reliable ingredient.

DENMARK – Arla Foods Ingredients has launched a new whey protein product, Lacprodan BLG-100 Acidic, targeting the medical nutrition sector.
This ingredient is designed to address common compliance issues among patients, such as taste and texture preferences, which are significant barriers to consumption.
Arla’s product can be easily integrated into various foods and beverages, offering 10 grams of protein per 100ml serving and dissolving in 30 seconds without gelling or clumping.
The new protein is suitable for manufacturers of foods for special medical purposes (FSMPs) and can be used in settings like hospitals and care homes.
Unlike traditional medical nutrition products, Lacprodan BLG-100 Acidic can be used in both acidic and neutral applications, allowing it to be incorporated into juice-style drinks and milky formats.
Patient adherence to nutrition plans is a persistent challenge, with studies indicating that approximately 50% of patients do not comply fully with prescribed oral nutrition due to taste issues.
Arla’s innovation comes as the medical nutrition industry shifts towards customizable formats that enable healthcare professionals to tailor protein intake to individual needs.
The ingredient’s formulation boasts high purity and an amino acid profile that includes leucine, important for muscle protein synthesis. This is particularly relevant for elderly patients and those in clinical nutrition markets concerned with muscle loss.
Arla has developed two concept products to demonstrate the commercial applications of Lacprodan BLG-100 Acidic: a juice-style medical drink and a complete milky beverage.
These products are intended to provide more variety and convenience, moving beyond conventional milky textures.
Arla Food Ingredients enters whey protein powder partnership with First Milk

In the agreement, First Milk will manufacture Nutrilac FO-7875 on behalf of Arla Foods Ingredients using the company’s proprietary process, with Arla Foods Ingredients marketing and selling the product internationally.
In addition, First Milk will continue to manufacture whey protein concentrate powder – WPC80 – and market it through its existing partnership.
Arla’s patented microparticulate whey protein concentrate product is used as an ingredient to enhance the level of protein in food and drink products.
