The expansion includes the construction of a 32,000-square-foot cold storage facility.

USA – Miceli Dairy, a family-owned cheese manufacturer, has broken ground on a $13 million expansion project enhancing the company’s cold storage and dry storage capabilities.
The expansion includes the construction of a 32,000-square-foot cold storage facility and the transformation of the former Gray Barrel site into a 30,000-square-foot dry storage and packaging center.
This move not only boosts Miceli’s production capacity but also consolidates operations that were previously scattered across rented spaces throughout the city.
“The expansion highlights Miceli’s commitment to Cleveland’s economic growth and its continued investment in local job creation and neighborhood development,” the company said in a press release.
First National Bank is providing financing for the project and will join the Miceli family, local leaders and development partners at Thursday’s event.
The company last expanded in 2011, which included additions to the current plant enabling it to double the production of ricotta cheese. That expansion also included a new mozzarella and provolone factory, as well as a biodigester and waste treatment facility.
Darigold opens its US$1B dairy processing
Recently, Darigold, a marketing arm of the Northwest Dairy Association (NDA), opened its new facility in Pasco, producing butter and powdered milk products for customers across the USA and in some 30 countries worldwide.
According to the company, the new plant will process up to 8 million pounds of milk per day from more than 100 regional farms and is expected to employ nearly 200 people directly, while also supporting up to 1,000 jobs in total through transportation, warehousing, and farm labour.
Allan Huttema, President and CEO of Darigold, said, “Dairy demand continues to grow, both here at home and abroad. Our new Pasco facility solidifies the Northwest as a global dairy leader and reflects our farmer-owners’ long-term commitment to good stewardship, high-quality production, and maintaining dairy farming as a way of life.”
Additionally, the new Pasco facility is also central to Darigold’s alignment with USA Dairy’s 2050 stewardship goals.
It incorporates a variety of innovative technologies and conservation strategies that are projected to provide a significant reduction in carbon emissions.
Key sustainability features include Low-emission burner technology in milk dryers, which significantly reduces nitrogen oxide emissions.
