The initiative aims to stabilise production, improve competitiveness, and ensure the future of the organic milk supply.

UK – Müller UK & Ireland, a dairy company, unveiled an organic milk programme designed to enhance long-term supply chain resilience and support farmers facing industry challenges.
Developed in collaboration with retail partners and organic dairy suppliers, the initiative aims to stabilise production, improve competitiveness, and ensure the future of the organic milk supply.
The programme is part of the Müller Advantage framework, which has been tailored to address fluctuating organic input costs, succession challenges, labor expenses, and investment needs for reducing farm emissions.
With organic milk production declining since 2020, many farmers have either left the sector or switched to non-organic methods due to rising costs and unstable farmgate prices.
To counter these challenges, Müller has introduced a new pricing model that considers real-time farm data analysis and carbon emission reduction strategies. Additionally, the company will offer bespoke workshops to help farmers implement sustainable practices and increase efficiency.
With its new approach, the dairy company is confident it can help supplying organic farmers become less exposed to price volatility, creating the conditions to grow and invest in their business, which in turn will provide greater resilience within the supply chain.
Richard Collins, Head of Agriculture at Müller Milk & Ingredients, said: “The future of the British organic dairy sector is at risk. Production has gone down over the past five years, with many hard-working farmers either leaving the industry or switching to non-organic methods.
“And as organic demand remains strong, we have to find new solutions, that are fully supported by our retail partners, to protect the long-term security of supply of organic milk.”
He added that their new organic programme is designed to offer stability, competitiveness, and long-term confidence to organic milk suppliers.
Müller UK launches Fast Track initiative
Recently, the company introduced a three-year initiative called Fast Track, aimed at reducing carbon emissions from its supplying farms.
The program, developed in partnership with Kite Consulting and involving 40 participating farms across Britain, is a significant component of Müller’s Sustainability Action Plan, which targets a 30% reduction in on-farm emissions by 2030.
Reported by Müller, the Fast Track program will utilize real-time data analysis to enhance production efficiency and sustainability, representing a shift from the traditional reliance on annual emission reports.
