UK – Müller UK & Ireland has introduced a three-year initiative called Fast Track, aimed at reducing carbon emissions from its supplying farms.
The program, developed in partnership with Kite Consulting and involving 40 participating farms across Britain, is a significant component of Müller’s Sustainability Action Plan, which targets a 30% reduction in on-farm emissions by 2030.
Reported by Müller, the Fast Track program will utilize real-time data analysis to enhance production efficiency and sustainability, representing a shift from the traditional reliance on annual emission reports.
According to the company, the Fast Track program is designed to empower farmers with tools and techniques for monitoring critical data in real time.
This will allow for quicker decision-making and more immediate actions to meet emission reduction targets.
A report by Müller highlights that the program will focus on key areas such as feed efficiency, fertility, stock numbers, and energy-corrected milk through advanced digital platforms like Feedlync, a cloud-based feed management system.
Rob Hutchison, chief executive of Müller Milk & Ingredients, stated that on-farm emissions represent a significant part of the company’s carbon footprint.
He emphasized the importance of the Fast Track program, saying it provides a valuable opportunity to make substantial progress toward their sustainability goals.
Hutchison noted that the initiative aligns with Müller’s broader efforts to support farmers and enhance the sustainability of the dairy sector.
Reported by Müller, the program also integrates with the company’s existing sustainability frameworks, including the Müller Advantage and Next Generation programs, further demonstrating its commitment to fostering a greener dairy future.
By equipping farmers with real-time insights and strategies, the Fast Track program aims to bridge the gap between current practices and the pressing need for climate action in the agricultural sector.
