ACK launches Kapomboi Eco Dairy Farm

The mission is to enhance the economic living standards of local farmers while providing high-quality dairy products to the North Rift Region.

KENYA – The Anglican Church of Kenya, Diocese of Kitale, in collaboration with Anglican Development Services North Rift Region (ADS NRR), has introduced Kapomboi Eco Dairy (KED), a state-of-the-art eco-dairy farm situated on 50 acres of land owned by the ACK Kitale Diocese in Kapomboi.

The dairy farm stated that it is committed to producing and delivering high-quality dairy products and services tailored to meet the needs of local and regional markets.

Its product offerings will be introduced in phases, ensuring sustainable growth and responsiveness to market demand.

The initial product lineup includes raw milk sourced from its current herd of 25 high-yielding cows, each producing an average of 20 liters per day.

This will be followed by pasteurized milk, to be introduced after acquiring the necessary equipment for safe processing, and yoghurt.

Over the next five years, Kapomboi Eco Dairy will progressively introduce additional products and services, including Dairy Products such as ghee, cheese, ice cream, and powdered milk.

Additionally, the farm will offer breeding stock: high-quality breeding cows carefully selected for their superior genetics to ensure healthy and productive offspring, as well as Surplus forage.

The farm will produce feedstock on a 1-acre plot to guarantee consistent, high-quality feed for our dairy cows. Any surplus will be available for sale to local farmers.

It will also provide organic manure and compost derived from livestock waste, promoting sustainable agricultural practices and making these resources available for sale to local farmers and gardeners.

The farm stated, “At Kapomboi Eco Dairy, we envision a thriving dairy ecosystem that benefits not only our institutions but also uplifts the community. We aim to empower smallholder farmers by sharing knowledge, resources, and opportunities for sustainable growth.”

Concurrently, the farm will offer breeding services, including artificial Insemination (AI), by providing advanced AI services with top-notch genetics to enhance herd productivity and quality.

Additionally, the farm will offer embryo transfer, accelerating genetic improvements in herds through advanced embryo transfer techniques.

KED Farm will also support smallholder farmers by providing agricultural extension services that focus on best practices in dairy farming.
