Bio Foods Managing Director Tom Jansen steps down, hands over reigns to Chairman

KENYA – Tom Jansen, the Managing Director of Bio Food products Limited, a leading processor of premium dairy products in Kenya, has announced that he is stepping down from the role at the end of February.

Jansen has been with the maker of premium dairy and non-dairy yogurts for over 1 year and 10 months now having joined in June 2021.

An Executive MBA graduate from INSEAD, Jansen is an experienced dairy executive having previously worked at Alaska Milk Corporation in the Philippines and at FrieslandlCampina in the Netherlands.

During his stint at Bio Foods, Jansen notes that the company was able to reinforce its position as the premium dairy and fine foods market leader, achieving record market shares and record profitability.

“During my tenure, I completed the assignment entrusted to me to improve Bio Foods’ performance,” Jansen said in a Linked Statement.

“It has been a great ride, streamlining the business operations through digitization, cost rationalization, and communicating with the market in an impactful way.”

Following his exit, Bio Foods Chairman and current CEO of Highlands Drinks Limited Joachim Westerveld is expected to take charge of the Nairobi-based dairy processor.

“As the business goes into a period of significant growth, I proudly hand over the reins to Joachim Westerveld, my friend and Bio’s Chairman,” Jansen said.

Earlier this year, Bio Foods signed a   memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Elgeyo Marakwet county aimed at improving the dairy sector in the country.

The MoU will see Bio Foods ltd train dairy farmers in the county in profitable dairy farming practices and according to the company’s executive chairman, Joachim Westerveld.

The company, which is known for its demand for high quality fully traceable milk products, will also provide a market for these farmers, offering them better prices.

“I thank our farmers for doing the right thing for Kenyans, delivering top-notch quality day in and day out, and producing the highest quality Kenyan milk at Bio’s stringent global standards,” Jansen concluded.
