Belarus secures US$76M dairy contracts for Indonesia’s school meal program

BELARUS – Belarus has secured US$76 million in contracts to supply milk powder to Indonesia, with part of the shipments allocated to the country’s Free Nutritious Meal programme, as reported by ANTARA.

According to Belarusian Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Aleksander Yakovchits, the agreements were signed during the recent state visit of Belarusian President Aleksander Lukashenko to Indonesia.

Belarus plans to export 20,000 tonnes of milk powder to Indonesia by the end of 2026, helping meet growing demand for dairy products and supporting the government’s flagship school nutrition programme.

Yakovchits said Belarus is well positioned to increase supplies thanks to the rapid expansion of its dairy industry.

National milk production reached 9.25 million tonnes in 2025 and is projected to climb to 12 million tonnes in 2026, providing substantial export capacity.

The dairy agreements form part of broader efforts to strengthen economic ties between the two countries.

Alongside food exports, Belarus and Indonesia are exploring collaboration in agricultural technology, farm machinery development and local manufacturing.

Officials said the bilateral business forum held ahead of the presidential visit generated approximately US$500 million in potential agreements across multiple sectors.

Current bilateral trade stands at around US$221 million, with both governments aiming to expand commercial cooperation in the coming years.

Belarus exports its first SMP export to Malaysia

Recently, the country completed its first transaction to export skimmed milk powder to Malaysia.

The deal involved a trial shipment of 100 tonnes of product supplied by a dairy processing enterprise from the Minsk region and purchased by a producer of oil and fat products based in Selangor, a Malaysian state.

Over the first five months of the year, the largest importers included Russia, the United Arab Emirates, and Singapore, reflecting sustained international interest in Belarusian dairy exports.

From January to May 2026, nearly 98,000 tonnes of skimmed milk powder were sold via the exchange for more than US$285 million.

The platform reported a 1.7-fold increase in physical export volumes and a 1.8-fold rise in value compared to the same period last year.
