Bel launches educational book to encourage healthy eating habits in children

Created by Quebec author Frédérick Wolfe and illustrated by artist Pishier, The Gobbler invites young readers to discover healthy eating through a colourful, creative world tailored to their everyday lives.

CANADA – Group Bel Canada has announced the launch of The Gobbler, an educational children’s book designed to make healthy nutrition awareness more accessible, fun and engaging.

With an educational focus, Bel Group developed the book in collaboration with its nutritionists, based on Canada’s Food Guide. It helps children learn about healthy eating habits in a simple, positive and entertaining way.

Nutrition education plays an important role in helping all children develop healthy eating habits, regardless of their circumstances or socioeconomic background.

To make this education accessible to as many children as possible, Group Bel Canada chose to build on its nearly five-year partnership with Food Banks Canada to bring The Gobbler to children and families.

With the organization’s support, more than 30,000 copies of the book were distributed across the country through 17 participating food banks.

Food Banks Canada plays a supporting role in distributing this book as an extension of Bel’s sponsorship of Food Banks Canada’s youth-focused program, After the Bell.

The program provides nutritious, child-friendly food packs throughout the summer when school-centred supports are not available.

“With The Gobbler, we wanted to create an educational tool that helps children develop a positive relationship with food while supporting communities across the country.

“This project reflects our mission, our commitment to healthier snacking and our determination to work alongside trusted partners to help build healthier and more sustainable eating habits from an early age,” said said Cristine Laforest, President and CEO of Group Bel Canada.

This collaboration helps bring Bel’s message of healthy eating to communities from coast to coast. Group Bel Canada has also partnered with the organization for close to five years, supporting its mission annually through product donations, financial contributions and employee volunteer initiatives.

The main group reported consolidated net sales of US$2.17 billion (€1,877 million), with organic growth of +4.2% in H1 2026.

Recurring operating income was US$158.27 million (€137 million), up US$28.93 million (€25 million) organically (+22.3%) compared to the same period of the previous year.
