This reflects Amcor’s commitment to sustainability by minimizing resource consumption without compromising product integrity

SWITZERLAND – Amcor has launched an updated version of its UniPak 1 kg pot for the dairy market, aiming to reduce material usage while maintaining the required performance, robustness and line compatibility.
With a combined weight of 31.6g for the pot and lid at standard material, Amcor stated that the new UniPak is material-efficient without compromising on strength, durability or end-user convenience.
Compared to the company’s previous container of this size, the new pack’s reduced weight is expected to deliver a carbon emissions reduction of up to 9% based on anticipated production volume.
The company added that the lightweight round container is made entirely from polypropylene, making it ‘recycle-ready’ and able to be recycled in countries with the appropriate infrastructure.
UniPak retains its robustness to provide product protection throughout the supply chain and its more compact dimensions allow easy handling in the home.
The compression-moulded lid apparently offers ‘excellent’ top-load strength and remains fastened to the pot even in cases of severe squeezing, while improved tamper-evidence enhances product security and provides reassurance to consumers.
Seeking to support brand differentiation, UniPak is compatible with a range of decoration options, including in-mould labelling, and is available in multiple different shapes – square, rectangular, round and oval – and sizes.
Shared lid diameters across different formats aim to allow companies to simplify inventory and supply chains.
Amcor stated that each pack has also been designed to optimize pallet utilization for improved logistics, and a protective collar protects the lid and improves the stability of the pots.
Amcor wins two WorldStar 2026 awards for recycle-ready cheese packaging
Recently, Amcor has secured two WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2026 for its AmPrima recycle-ready packaging developed for shredded cheese applications.
The honours, presented by the World Packaging Organization, recognize the solution in both the Food and Packaging Materials and Components categories.
The award-winning structure replaces traditional multi-material laminates – often incorporating PET or PVDC – with a mono-material polyethylene film engineered to meet recyclability requirements without compromising performance.
Designed to comply with Australasian soft plastics recycling standards, the packaging is approved to carry the “Check Locally” logo under the Australasian Recycling Label (ARL) program.
Shredded cheese packaging is widely regarded as one of the more technically demanding flexible formats, requiring high oxygen and moisture barriers, strong seal integrity, grease resistance and compatibility with high-speed filling lines.
