The Minister noted that the country has achieved 99% self-sufficiency in the production of dairy and its derivatives

QATAR – Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah Al Attiyah has confirmed that Qatar has achieved 99 per cent self-sufficiency in dairy production, as national food security policies continue to strengthen domestic supply and market stability.
This came during an inspection visit by the Minister to Baladna Food Industries, attended by the Chairman of the company, Moutaz Al Khayyat, to review the food security system and strengthen local production.
The Minister reviewed operations at the farm and production lines at the company’s factories, which cover about 99% of the local market’s needs for fresh dairy products and their derivatives.
He also reviewed the stock of agricultural and industrial production inputs, which is sufficient to meet the company’s needs for more than ten months, further supporting the stability of food supplies in the local market.
He noted that this continued progress underscores the vital role played by national companies in supporting local production and enhancing the sustainability of food supplies, thereby contributing to market stability and ensuring the consistent availability of food products.
Additionally, the Minister was also briefed by company management on its efforts and capacity to provide dairy products and their derivatives, as well as its ongoing plans to develop the production system and enhance operational efficiency in line with local market needs.

The government’s focus on domestic dairy production and self-sufficiency has helped Qatar develop into a regional dairy production center, with investments in farming technology, processing facilities, and supply chain infrastructure.
Qatar’s infrastructure, including cold chain facilities, ports, and transportation networks, ensures efficient dairy product distribution and quality maintenance. The country’s position as a regional business hub attracts international dairy companies seeking access to Middle East markets.
