Brenntag expands Asia Pacific nutrition capabilities with new innovation and application centre in Mumbai

Brenntag opens a purpose-built Nutrition Innovation and Application Centre in Mumbai to support food and beverage manufacturers across Asia Pacific.

INDIA – Brenntag has expanded its Asia Pacific nutrition capabilities with the opening of a new Nutrition Innovation & Application Centre in Andheri East, Mumbai, strengthening technical, analytical and flavour application support for food and beverage customers across the region.

The company said the new centre is designed to accelerate product development for key categories including confectionery, dairy, beverages, snacks and convenience foods, while bringing application expertise closer to local manufacturers and brand owners.

Located in Andheri East, the Mumbai facility features dedicated laboratories and application kitchens. Brenntag said these capabilities are intended to shorten development cycles and enable faster scale-up from concept to commercialisation.

According to the company, the centre will provide formulation support, sensory and flavour trials, and analytical testing. These services are aimed at reducing time-to-market for new product concepts while supporting compliance with regulatory and quality requirements.

Brenntag described the investment as a response to rising demand across Asia Pacific for tailored nutrition and nutraceutical solutions that combine functional ingredients with consumer-ready formats.

The new facility represents a substantial expansion of the company’s previous laboratory presence in Mumbai and has been purpose-built with dedicated laboratories for multiple food and beverage categories.

“By expanding our technical and innovation capabilities in Mumbai, we are enhancing our ability to support local and regional food and beverage manufacturers with solutions that meet evolving market, regulatory and consumer demands,” said Kenneth Keh, Regional President, Nutrition APAC, Brenntag Specialties.

The centre, designed as a comprehensive innovation hub, brings together advanced processing, formulation, blending and analytical capabilities to support technical problem-solving across a wide range of applications.

Brenntag said the site will enable cross-functional collaboration among its technical teams, suppliers and customers, supporting the co-creation of beverage concepts, oral formats and delivery systems tailored to local taste profiles and nutritional needs.

The company also highlighted the centre’s capacity to conduct pilot trials and prototype iterations, allowing brands to refine sensory attributes and reduce risk before full-scale production.

The laboratory supports applications across confectionery, breads and cakes, noodles and pasta, sauces and dressings, as well as coated and ready-to-eat snacks.

The facility also supports the creation of bespoke ingredient blends using pilot-scale blending equipment, vibro-shifters and particle size analysers designed to mirror full-scale production conditions.

In October 2025, Brenntag opened its Innovation & Application Center for Food & Nutrition in Leeds, United Kingdom, underscoring the company’s continued global investment in technical and application-driven customer support.
