Amino Acid (AA) balancing is a proven solution to enhance reproduction, boost milk yield, and increase sustainability and profitability.

FRANCE – Adisseo, one of the global leaders in amino acid balancing for dairy nutrition, has launched a partnership program to expedite the use of Amino Acid (AA) balanced formulation.
This initiative is designed to help feed mills and dairy farmers reduce costs, maximize profits, and improve their environmental footprint.
Through extensive research in collaboration with leading universities, Adisseo has shown the effectiveness of AA balancing in dairy nutrition.
A recent IFCN evaluation of 18 typical European farms across nine countries estimated that implementing AA balancing could increase annual income by €293 (approximately US$351) per cow.
Bridging the gap in dairy nutrition
Over the past three decades, AA-balanced diets have delivered clear benefits to the dairy industry. However, dairy farmers still face three critical challenges: herd health and reproduction, profitability, and the need to reduce protein levels in feed and nitrogen excreted into the environment.
According to Adisseo, the company will bridge this market gap by equipping nutritionists with practical AA formulation knowledge and providing feed mills with easier access to the right protected amino acids.
By targeting the entire feed chain, the program enables farmers to produce more milk using less protein, improving cow health and reproduction. At the same time, feed mills gain access to cost-effective sources of protected liquid methionine and formulation guidance to manufacture more cost-effective compound feeds.
Through this partnership program, Adisseo is addressing a long-standing gap in the dairy industry, as many dairy diets remain unbalanced in amino acids despite AA-balanced feed formulation having existed and proven effective for years.
Global trends in amino acid formulated feeds
Researchers expect the AA market to grow steadily over the next decade. Fresh market studies highlight that wider use of amino acids in animal feed will boost productivity, support sustainability, and drive demand in emerging countries.
The market is currently valued at about US$8.25 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach US$14.5 billion by 2035, reflecting a steady CAGR of 5.7%.
The Asia-Pacific region continues to dominate global consumption of amino acid (AA) formulated feeds, driven largely by rapid livestock expansion. Industry analysts point to rising demand for poultry and swine production as key factors fueling this growth.
In contrast, North America and Europe are focusing their efforts on precision nutrition and sustainability. Feed manufacturers and farmers in these regions are investing in advanced technologies to optimize nutrient delivery, reduce waste, and minimize environmental impact.
Meanwhile, Africa and Latin America are witnessing a steady expansion in the integration of amino acids into precision livestock farming. This trend reflects a growing recognition of the role amino acids play in improving feed efficiency, animal health, and overall productivity.
Taken together, the common thread is clear. AA formulation in livestock feeds is becoming indispensable in shaping the future of livestock nutrition worldwide.
