Saputo USA expands product portfolio with new Cheddarella String Cheese

Cheddarella String Cheese is positioned to capitalise on the growing consumer preference for snackable cheese products.

USA – Saputo USA, a dairy key division of Saputo Inc., has introduced Cheddarella String Cheese, a hybrid that merges the robust flavour of cheddar with the iconic stringy texture of mozzarella, expanding its product offering.

This new offering aims to appeal to both children and adults seeking innovative snacking options.  By combining cheddar, the most popular cheese type in the USA, with low-moisture part-skim mozzarella, Saputo aims to deliver a product that not only satisfies taste preferences but also aligns with current snacking trends.

The product will be available in convenient 12-count packages, each containing 0.833 oz sticks, catering to the on-the-go consumer. This packaging strategy reflects a broader trend in the food and beverage (F&B) industry, where convenience and portability are a priority for busy families and health-conscious individuals.

Jenny Englert, Director of Marketing at Saputo USA, highlighted the company’s commitment to innovation in the cheese industry. “Cheddarella String Cheese represents our ongoing dedication to creating snacks that resonate with consumers’ desires for great taste and quality ingredients,” she said.

This launch is part of Frigo Cheese Heads brand’s strategy to maintain its leadership in the string cheese category, which is currently the top segment in the USA cheese market.

Saputo USA to launch new spicy mozzarella cheese

Recently, the company also introduced Saputo Spicy Mozzarella at the 2025 International Pizza Expo, introducing a bold twist to its classic mozzarella lineup.

This innovative cheese blends the smooth, creamy texture of traditional mozzarella with the fiery zest of habanero jack, delivering a spicy kick designed to excite cheese lovers and culinary professionals alike.

Available in whole milk and part-skim varieties, it will be offered in loaves, diced, and shredded formats, catering to diverse kitchen needs.

According to the company, this Spicy Mozzarella retains the brand’s signature qualities, including a consistent buttery taste, excellent stretch, and reliable coverage, attributes that have made its mozzarella cheeses a staple in professional kitchens.

The cheese is crafted from cow’s milk sourced in Wisconsin, blending low-moisture mozzarella with habanero jack to achieve its distinctive flavor profile.

Nutritionally, it builds on the foundation of Saputo’s Original String Mozzarella, which provides 80 calories per ounce, with 29% from protein, 66% from fat, and 5% from carbs, according to MyFoodData.

The addition of habanero jack introduces capsaicin, a compound known for its metabolism-boosting properties, though exact nutritional adjustments for the spicy variant remain unspecified.

The Spicy Mozzarella aims to elevate both cooked and fresh dishes, offering a versatile option for those who crave heat in their recipes.

Its reliable melting performance, minimal oiling, and uniform stretch make it ideal for pizza, a food category that dominates U.S. consumption with 13% of Americans eating pizza on any given day, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
