United Dairy, JobsOhio invest US$2.3M to expand its operations in Martins Ferry

The expansion is poised to bolster the company’s production capabilities and enhance its service to crucial sectors.

USA – Ohio-based United Dairy has announced a significant investment exceeding US$2.3 million to expand its operations in Martins Ferry.

This strategic growth initiative, undertaken in collaboration with JobsOhio, Ohio Southeast Economic Development (OhioSE), and the Belmont County Port Authority, signals a strong commitment to the region’s dairy industry.

J.P. Nauseef, president and CEO of JobsOhio, said, “United Dairy is an Ohio-founded company that continues to invest, grow and create jobs throughout the state. The expansion at the Martins Ferry facility strengthens United Dairy’s footprint in the state while ensuring schools and hospitals throughout the region continue to be supplied with its nutritious, high-quality products.”

The project involves a significant expansion of the plant’s overall production capacity, accompanied by strategic upgrades to existing equipment.

Larry Merry, the Executive Director of the Belmont County Port Authority, emphasized that United Dairy has long played a vital role in the Martins Ferry community—not only as a significant employer but also as a dedicated ally to numerous local farms.

He noted that the recent expansion is crucial for preserving the plant’s presence in Belmont County, safeguarding local employment and financial investments.

Additionally, he highlighted the importance of accompanying road infrastructure improvements, which are necessary to maintain efficient and safe transportation for the trucks servicing the facility. According to him, the initiative represents a meaningful opportunity to reinforce both the region’s industrial capabilities and its infrastructure for the future.

These enhancements are designed to enhance packaging efficiency and flexibility, enabling United Dairy to adapt more readily to market demands and optimise its operational workflow. Such technological advancements are crucial for maintaining competitiveness in the dynamic dairy market.

The project is supported by a US$200,000 JobsOhio Grant, aimed at promoting economic development, business expansion, and job creation by funding eligible projects.

We applaud United Dairy for their continued commitment to excellence and innovation. This project not only strengthens their position in the market but also fosters economic growth and opportunity in Belmont County,” said Matt Abbott, President and CEO of OhioSE.
