Nestlé USA to eliminate use of FD&C colors by mid-2026

Over 90% of Nestlé USA’s current portfolio does not include synthetic colors.

USA – Nestle USA, a regional operator of Nestle, has shared its timeline to entirely eliminate FD&C colors in its USA food and beverage portfolio by mid-2026.

This effort is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to providing consumers with a range of high-quality, nutritious foods and beverages that reflect their diverse choices.

Over the last decade, the company has been actively removing synthetic colors from its products and working to identify alternative solutions in recipes where they are still used. The work is scheduled to be completed within the next 12 months.

Consumers enjoy a wide variety of foods and beverages as part of their daily diet. They want choice and value shaped by a dynamic – and highly personal – combination of nutrition, quality, price and convenience,” said Marty Thompson, CEO of Nestlé USA.

He emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to meeting consumer needs by continuously exploring new ways to deliver tasty and appealing options. He noted that as people’s dietary habits and nutritional preferences change, Nestlé adapts in response.

The company stated that it has refined its recipes over the years, expanding choices, incorporating nutrient-rich ingredients, adding more low and no-sugar choices, and removing unfamiliar ingredients. We also share information to help consumers make informed decisions when choosing what to eat or drink.

Mr. Thompson added, “Serving and delighting people is at the heart of everything we do and every decision that we make. We have been doing so for over 100 years, and that longevity is built on an unwavering commitment to understanding our consumers, adapting to their evolving expectations, and meeting their immediate needs, but with a future-focused approach. Nestlé USA remains committed to providing consumers with affordable, high-quality food and beverages.”

Nestlé revamps nutritional reporting

CEO Laurent Freixe stated that Nestle, as a company that delivers products & services at scale that make balanced diets accessible to people around the world, transparent discussions with stakeholders are a must.

He added that starting with the next non-financial report, the company would evolve its nutrition reporting.
