NIGERIA – FrieslandCampina WAMCO, a dairy manufacturing company, has appointed Olayinka Sanni as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors, replacing Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe.
Sanni brings to his new position a wealth of experience spanning over 35 years in the financial services sector.

Sanni expressed appreciation for Mr. Moyo Ajekigbe, OFR, acknowledging his leadership during his tenure. He stated that as he assumes his new role, he is relying on the collective support of the Board of Directors, Management, Employees, and Shareholders to ensure that the company maintains its position as Nigeria’s leading dairy brand.
“The expertise Mr. Sanni brings to the Board of Directors, FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC, covers retail and wholesale banking, asset management and his invaluable strategic vision for the continued growth and innovation of the company,” said the company’s Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Ore Famurewa.
Speaking on the retirement of Ajekigbe, the firm extended gratitude for his exemplary leadership and significant contributions as chair of the Board of Directors.
Famurewa said Ajekigbe guided the company through various phases of growth and transformation, including the commencement of dairy development.
He described Ajekigbe as a seasoned banker with over 32 years of experience whose tenure saw the implementation of innovative strategies that enhanced the company’s market position.
Ajekigbe said, “As I step down as Chairman, I want to thank everyone who has made my journey a successful one. Leading a company such as FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria PLC was a great honour. I want to thank the Board of Directors, Management Team, and Staff who made it possible for us to fulfil our mission of nourishing Nigerians with quality dairy nutrition. I am confident that my successor will take the company to even greater heights.”
WAMCO launches zero-waste initiative
Last year, the company introduced the Zero-Waste Initiative, which aims to advance sustainable practices in Nigeria’s dairy industry.
It adopts a two-phase approach to address waste management challenges while promoting a circular economy.
The first phase focuses on reducing post-production waste sent to landfills, while the second phase targets the recovery of post-consumer waste.
