Holland Dairy strengthens Ethiopia’s dairy sector with new premium cheese

ETHIOPIA – Holland Dairy, a dairy processing company in Ethiopia, has unveiled its latest cheese made from locally sourced milk, boosting the country’s dairy sector.

Holland Dairy’s latest launch marks a strategic advancement in Ethiopia’s dairy sector, introducing premium cheese that meets international standards and strengthens the country’s position in the global dairy market.

The new cheese combines the richness of Ethiopian milk with the precision and consistency of cutting-edge Dutch machinery, setting a new benchmark for dairy excellence on the continent.

According to the company, the new launch not only brings a high-quality product to the market but also deepens its commitment to supporting local farmers and adding value to Ethiopia’s agricultural economy.

Jean-Paul Rieu, Commercial Director of Holland Dairy, remarked, said, “We believe in the power of local. By working closely with more than 4,000 Ethiopian farmers, we ensure access to the best-quality milk. Now, with advanced Dutch technology, we can take that milk and create a truly exceptional cheese, one we believe will become the best in Africa.”

Holland Dairy unveils new banana yoghurt

Recently, the company unveiled its latest creation, Banana Yoghurt made with authentic Ethiopian bananas. 

The launch marks a significant step in blending traditional flavours with modern dairy innovation, aiming to captivate consumers both locally and beyond.

According to a statement shared by Jean-Paul Rieu, the company’s managing director, the new product celebrates Ethiopia’s rich agricultural heritage. 

We’re thrilled to bring this unique yoghurt to our customers,” Rieu said. “Using real Ethiopian bananas not only supports our farmers but also delivers a taste that’s truly special.” 

The announcement highlighted the meticulous process of sourcing ripe, high-quality bananas from smallholder farms in Ethiopia’s southern regions, known for their fertile soils and ideal growing conditions.

“The yoghurt is crafted to offer a creamy texture with a natural sweetness, free from artificial flavours, which aligns with growing consumer demand for healthier, authentic food options.” 

A report by the Ethiopian Dairy Association noted that the country’s dairy sector has seen a 12% rise in demand for flavoured yoghurts over the past year, driven by urban consumers seeking convenient yet nutritious snacks. 

Holland’s Dairy’s latest offering is poised to tap into this trend, with an introductory price of US$1.20 per 500-gram tub, making it accessible to a wide audience.
