LONDON – Nestlé has teamed up with the regenerative dairy cooperative First Milk to launch an innovative farm pop-up in East London, celebrating 21 years of partnership.
Reported by Nestlé, the one-day event, named The Farm Drop, transformed an urban space into a rural haven, offering city residents a chance to experience the sights, sounds, and peacefulness of farm life.
The initiative aimed to bridge the gap between urban consumers and the origins of popular products like KitKat and Nescafé Frothy Coffee, sourced from First Milk farms in Cumbria and Ayrshire.
According to new research commissioned by Nestlé, 47% of Brits care about the sourcing of their food ingredients and believe production should prioritize nature-friendly practices.
The study also found that over a third, 34%, are more likely to purchase items that support environmental protection.
City dwellers, in particular, feel the strain of limited greenery, with one in four expressing a desire to visit a farm to better understand their food’s journey.
The Farm Drop responded to this craving for connection, showcasing regenerative farming methods that reduce emissions and capture carbon, practiced by 80 farmers supported by the Nestlé-First Milk partnership.
“We wanted to bring the farm to the city and show how our treats support sustainable farming,” said a Nestlé spokesperson at the event.
Visitors gained insight into how these efforts not only produce high-quality milk but also bolster British agriculture and environmental health.
The pop-up drew inspiration from First Milk’s operations, where farmers are incentivized to enhance natural assets on their land, aligning with growing consumer demand for sustainability.
