Arla announces new Board of Directors for 2024-2026 term

DENMARK – The Arla Foods Board of Representatives has elected the new Board of Directors for Arla Foods for the next two years.

The election, which took place during Arla’s Board of Representatives meeting in Copenhagen, introduced four new members to the Board of Directors for the 2024-2026 term.

The newly elected members are farmer-owners Markus Hübers from Germany and George Holmes from the UK, as well as Arla employees Paul Cullen (UK) and Holger Steen Lund (Denmark).

Jan Toft Nørgaard was re-elected as Chair of the Board, continuing a role he has held since 2018, and Inger-Lise Sjöström was elected as Vice Chair. The board also saw the re-election of external members Nana Bule and Florence Rollet.

Arla’s Board of Directors is composed of 14 farmer-owners and two external members, who are elected by the Board of Representatives.

Additionally, three Arla employees serve on the Board as representatives elected by Arla’s European Works Council.

Arla Foods, Mondelez International partner to launch Milka Chocolate Milk

In other developments, the  Danish dairy group has entered into a licensing agreement with US confectionery giant Mondelez International to produce and distribute Milka-branded chocolate milk in Germany, Austria, and Poland.

The announcement was made on, May 29th, with the new chocolate milk products set to hit the shelves next month.

Milka, a popular chocolate brand under Mondelez International, is already known for its presence in categories such as ice cream, cakes, and pastries.

The forthcoming chocolate milk will be produced at Arla’s dairy facility in Esbjerg, Denmark, and will be available in three different formats and three flavours.

Patrik Hansson, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Arla Foods, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.

“I am very excited to enter into a long-term strategic partnership with Mondelez International and bring tasty and desirable products to our consumers,” Hansson stated.

“Milka is a beloved brand, and I know we have the manufacturing, commercial, and marketing capabilities to take it to the next level. Our ambition is clear: We want to achieve first or second place in our launch markets.”

Clive Jones, President of Central Europe and EU Central Sales at Mondelez International, highlighted the significance of the collaboration.

“This collaboration allows us to expand the beloved Milka brand across Europe and introduce consumers to an exciting new way to enjoy their favourite chocolate,” he said.

“While we continue to innovate and develop our portfolio, this new category marks a significant step in Milka’s success story.”

With this new venture, Arla Foods and Mondelez International are set to bring the chocolate brand to new heights, delighting consumers in Germany, Austria, and Poland with Milka chocolate milk.
