Arla Protein Water launched in Denmark on 1 November 2026.

DENMARK – Arla Foods has expanded its protein portfolio with the launch of a water-based protein drink, Arla Protein Water.
The product, which contains whey protein derived from milk, comes as demand for protein grows among Danish consumers, with the category increasingly extending beyond sports nutrition to everyday consumption.
Arla said the new drink complements its existing range of protein-rich products, offering an alternative format for consumers looking for convenient protein options.
The company said the drink is not intended to replace regular water, but to serve consumers looking for a protein-containing beverage in specific situations, such as after physical activity or while on the move.
Henrik Lilballe Hansen, country director at Arla Denmark, said: “Protein is no longer a niche. It has become part of many consumers’ daily choices, which is why we also see a demand for new formats. With Arla Protein Water, we give consumers a fresh and easy way to choose protein, while building on our strong competencies within milk and whey protein.”
Hansen added: “We start where the need for on-the-go products is greatest. This gives us a good starting point to learn from consumer reactions and assess how the category can develop over time.”

Additionally, the company launched a new milk drink designed for situations where milk is often rejected in favour of juices, smoothies or other drinks.
The new milk drink is based on three ingredients: organic Danish milk, natural aroma and lactase enzyme.
The product is lactose-free, without added sugar and can be stored out of the refrigerator. At the same time, the milk comes from farms with three green hearts under the state’s official animal welfare label, Better Animal Welfare, the highest level in the scheme.
The new milk drink is not intended as a substitute for regular milk in the home, but as a supplement in those moments when milk is not otherwise chosen.
The company reported revenue of US$8.86 billion (EUR 7.6 billion), up 6.7% as global demand for nutritious dairy grew across its strategic brands in H1 2026.
Net profit rose to US$243.08 million (EUR 213 million), up from US$179.9 million (EUR 158 million) in the first half of 2025.
