Amul expands portfolio with high protein cubes

The latest addition reflects Amul’s continued expansion in the protein-focused food segment, where it has been introducing products across dairy, beverages and packaged foods.

INDIA – Amul has expanded its high-protein food portfolio with the introduction of High Protein Cubes, a savoury ready-to-eat snack offering 25 g of protein and 150 calories in a 38 g single-serve pack.

Amul High Protein Cubes contain 65 percent protein and are available in a box containing five individual packs. Each pack comes with a separate seasoning sachet, allowing consumers to customise the flavour before consumption.

The product is being introduced in five flavours: Peri Peri, Korean Kimchi, Tandoori, Cheese & Herbs and Tomato. Consumers can add the seasoning to the cubes, shake the pack and consume them as a snack.

The company has also suggested using the cubes in gravies and soups or combining them with onions, tomatoes and chutneys to prepare a crunchy bhel.

The cooperative entered the high-protein direct-to-consumer category in 2022 with products such as high-protein paneer and dahi.

In April 2025, Amul introduced high-protein mango kulfi, containing 10 g of protein and 57 calories per 60 g pack. The product was priced at Rs 40. At the time, managing director Jayen Mehta had indicated that the cooperative was exploring additional protein-focused products, including snacks.

With High Protein Cubes, Amul is extending its protein portfolio beyond conventional dairy products and beverages into the ready-to-eat savoury snacks category.

The move adds another format to its growing range of protein-based offerings as the company explores opportunities in India’s functional food and high-protein packaged food market.

Amul to invest US$74.8M in new West Bengal dairy plant

Recently, the company announced plans to lay the foundation stone for a new dairy plant in West Bengal on June 14, with an investment of Rs. 700 crore (US$ 74.8 million).

The investment reflects Amul’s continued focus on expanding its dairy processing and value-added product capabilities while strengthening its presence in eastern India.

The upcoming facility is expected to contribute to the growth of West Bengal’s dairy ecosystem by enhancing processing infrastructure and supporting the broader development of the sector.

The project is also anticipated to generate economic activity and employment opportunities while reinforcing the state’s attractiveness as an investment destination.
