Demka Dairy expands with new probiotic yoghurt products

KENYA – Demka Dairy has introduced two new probiotic varieties under its Gracies brand: Probiotic Yoghurt with Real Strawberries and Probiotic Yoghurt with Real Vanilla, expanding its product line.

According to the company, each 450ml cup contains over one billion probiotics, featuring two of the most trusted strains: Lactobacillus acidophilus LA-5 and Bifidobacterium BB-12.

LA-5 is known for surviving the stomach’s acidity and reaching the intestines, where it supports digestion, improves lactose tolerance, and helps balance gut microbiota.

BB-12 thrives in the colon, breaking down complex carbohydrates and fibers, producing beneficial short-chain fatty acids, and supporting immunity and digestive comfort.

Founded in 2011 in Othaya, Nyeri County, it began as a small cooperative of just 15 farmers pooling their milk for sale to local hotels.

Demka Dairy, a leading milk processor based in Nyeri and Murang’a counties, has been proudly serving the community for over a decade, partnering with over 5,000 dedicated farmers to source fresh raw milk, which is processed into a variety of high-quality dairy products, including yoghurt, cheese, butter, and mala.

The company is best known for its Gracies Yogurt brand, which has become popular for its probiotic varieties such as strawberry and vanilla.

Beyond yogurt, Demka also produces pasteurized milk, mala (fermented milk), butter, and a wide range of cheeses including cheddar, paneer, mozzarella, and feta.
