The unveiling reflects the cooperative’s strategy of diversifying beyond traditional dairy offerings to meet evolving tastes in Kenya’s dynamic food market.

KENYA – Mount Kenya Milk has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of Mango and Pineapple yoghurt flavours, underscoring its commitment to innovation and consumer satisfaction.
By blending tropical fruit flavours with high-quality yoghurt, Mount Kenya aims to appeal to younger consumers and health-conscious households seeking nutritious yet indulgent options.
The new products are designed to deliver both nutritional value and market competitiveness. Mango and pineapple were chosen for their popularity among Kenyan consumers and their alignment with the cooperative’s vision of promoting locally inspired flavours.
The cooperative has invested in modern processing equipment to ensure consistent quality and safety standards, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted supplier.
Beyond consumer appeal, the launch is expected to benefit farmers by expanding demand for raw milk and creating new opportunities in processing and distribution. This aligns with broader national goals of boosting dairy value chains, enhancing rural incomes, and promoting food security.
With the new mango and pineapple yoghurt flavours now available in retail outlets, Mount Kenya Dairy has signaled its readiness to capture a larger share of the growing yoghurt market, while celebrating Kenya’s rich agricultural heritage through taste and innovation.
The company achieved a major milestone after receiving ISO 22000:2018 Food Safety Management System certification from the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
The certification positions the cooperative to expand its footprint beyond domestic markets and access high-value international destinations.
The recognition affirms the institution’s commitment to quality assurance, product safety, and adherence to internationally accepted dairy processing practices.
With its daily processing capacity exceeding 600,000 litres of milk, the cooperative is now better equipped to penetrate premium export markets across Europe, the Middle East, and other global regions that require strict food safety standards.
Recently, it was honoured with the Company of the Year – Dairy Development Champion award at the Africa Dairy Industry Awards 2026, held on 17th April 2026 alongside the Africa Dairy Innovation Summit.
The recognition affirms the cooperative’s transformative role in advancing dairy development, farmer empowerment, and value chain integration in Kenya.
Established in 1967 by three cooperative societies, Meru Dairy has grown into Kenya’s largest dairy cooperative and processor, with a strong farmer-owned model that places producers at the centre of its operations.
