The company had appointed Chief Financial Officer Bent K. Axelsen as interim CEO.

NORWAY – Elopak’s Board of Directors has appointed Håkon Volldal as the new CEO, who currently serves as President and CEO of Nel ASA.
Before that, he held the position of CEO of Q-Free and several senior leadership roles at TOMRA, including Executive Vice President and Head of TOMRA Collection Solutions.
Volldal holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Technology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The effective date of his appointment will be agreed in due course, and no later than the beginning of January, 2027.
“His track record in scaling engineering‑led businesses, driving operational improvement and leading transformation makes him well qualified to lead Elopak through its next phase of growth, innovation and sustainability supporting the company’s strategy,” said Chair of the Board, Dag Mejdell.
Together with the rest of the Elopak Management Team, Bent Kilsund Axelsen will continue to lead the company with direction and stability as interim CEO until Volldal assumes the role.
Thereafter, Axelsen and interim CFO, Ola Buarøy, will return to their respective roles as CFO and Director Finance and Tax.
“I am excited to be joining Elopak, a company with a strong purpose, a proud heritage, and a clear vision for the future. Throughout its history, Elopak has demonstrated how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand to deliver value for customers, shareholders, and society.
“I look forward to listening, learning, and working closely with colleagues, customers, and partners around the world. My top priorities will be to accelerate the implementation of Elopak’s ‘Repackaging tomorrow’ strategy and continue to drive positive change in the packaging industry” says Volldal.
Håkon Volldal replaces Thomas Körmendi, who stepped down from his role, citing personal reasons linked to his planned relocation to Denmark.
Since the company’s IPO in 2021, Elopak has expanded into a fully integrated provider of packaging solutions across fresh, aseptic and non-food segments.
Under Körmendi’s leadership, the company has also accelerated its global footprint through targeted acquisitions, particularly in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia.
More recently, Elopak marked a major milestone with the launch of a state-of-the-art production facility in the United States, further underlining its international growth ambitions.
These strategic moves have translated into improved financial performance, with the company reporting notable gains in both revenue growth and profitability.
