Clover Hill Dairy recalls soft ricotta due to Listeria Infection

USA – Clover Hill Dairy, LLC has recalled all soft ricotta/requeson cheese manufactured at their firm which had been sold in ten (10), twelve (12) and fourteen (14) ounce individually packaged clamshell containers.

Bulk cheese may be repackaged under individual bulk distributor brand names, including but not limited to: KESSO, QUESOS LA RICURA, IZALCO, DE MI PUEBLO, RIO LINDO.

Some requeson varieties may have jalapeño or other flavors. Products may be relabeled under a different brand name when distributed, so consumers should check the manufacturer information on packages, if available.

The label may identify the Clover Hill Dairy manufacturer permit (or plant) number as “24-128” (pictured below).  

On June 5, Nelson & Isa Lacteos, LLC of Bay Shore, NY, initiated a recall of 1-lb packages of requeson cheese sold in clear plastic clam-shell containers to retail locations in New York from May 15 to May 28, 2026.

The recalled cheese was likely repacked at the retail store locations, and labeling or coding of recalled cheese may vary based on location of purchase.  

Symptoms ofListeriosis 

Symptoms usually start within two weeks of eating food contaminated with Listeria but may start as early as the same day or as late as 10 weeks after.

Mild symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, nausea, tiredness, vomiting, and diarrhea. If the more severe form of listeriosis develops, symptoms may include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. 

According to the report, if you are pregnant, aged 65 or older, or have a weakened immune system due to certain medical conditions or treatments, you are at higher risk for severe Listeria illness. Do not eat any queso fresco-type cheese, including soft ricotta/requeson.

Stores affected

Clover Hill soft ricotta/requeson cheese was distributed from May 4th, 2026 through May 30th, 2026 in the following states: North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey and Washington, DC through bulk distributors, retail stores and directly to consumers.

Nelson & Isa Lacteos requeson products were sold at retail locations in New York from May 15 to May 28, 2026.
