Bio-Foods Ltd recognised as Company of the Year – Food Safety and Quality Champion at the Africa Dairy Industry Awards 2026

KENYA – Bio Foods Ltd has been awarded the Company of the Year – Food Safety and Quality Champion at the Africa Dairy Industry Awards 2026, held on 17th April 2026 alongside the Africa Dairy Innovation Summit.

The recognition affirms the company’s industry-leading commitment to delivering safe, high-quality, and sustainably produced dairy products in Kenya and across the region.

Bio Foods has built its brand around a “quality-first” philosophy, anchored in rigorous food safety protocols that begin at the farm level and extend through to final consumption.

The company’s “grass-to-glass” model ensures strict control across the entire value chain, from milk sourcing and testing to processing, cold-chain distribution, and retail handling.

At the core of its food safety leadership is an intensive raw milk screening process. Every batch of milk supplied to Bio Foods undergoes more than 17 quality and safety tests, including checks for bacterial contamination, antibiotic residues, aflatoxins, and other impurities.

Milk that does not meet the company’s stringent standards is rejected outright, ensuring only the cleanest, toxin-safe raw material enters production.

Bio Foods’ product portfolio reflects this uncompromising focus on quality. The company produces a wide range of dairy products, including fresh milk, probiotic yoghurt, cheese, butter, and cream, all developed to meet high nutritional and safety standards.

Its yoghurt range, in particular, has positioned the company as a premium player in Kenya’s dairy market, with a strong emphasis on probiotic health benefits and natural ingredients.

The company’s investment in processing excellence and international standards further reinforces its leadership in food safety.

Bio Foods is ISO 22000 certified, demonstrating compliance with globally recognised food safety management systems, and has also achieved B Corp certification, making it one of the first food and beverage companies in Kenya to meet rigorous social, environmental, and governance benchmarks.

Recent market developments highlight Bio Foods’ continued expansion and innovation in quality assurance systems.

In 2025, the company launched a new milk collection and service centre aimed at strengthening quality-based sourcing, improving farmer collaboration, and enhancing traceability across its supply chain. This initiative reinforces its ecosystem approach, linking farmers, processors, and partners to deliver consistently safe and high-quality dairy products.

Sustainability remains integral to Bio Foods’ quality strategy. The company has invested in solar energy, with over 39% of its operational energy derived from renewable sources, while also reducing carbon emissions intensity even as production volumes grow.

Additionally, its commitment to antibiotic-free and aflatoxin-safe products reflects a proactive approach to consumer health and environmental responsibility.

The Company of the Year – Food Safety and Quality Champion award recognises organisations that demonstrate excellence in safeguarding consumer health through robust systems, innovation, and transparency.
