The plant currently collects milk from more than 1,200 Romanian farmers, and this new hall is intended to align production capacity with the growing local milk supply.

ROMANIA – Olympus Foods Romania, one of the largest dairy producers in the region and a leader in milk collection from Romanian farmers, has launched the construction of a new 7,100-square-meter hall at its Brașov Dairy Plant.
The US$8.69 million (€7.5 million) investment aims to expand the factory’s production and storage capacities. This investment comes just over a year after the inauguration of a US$46.9 million (€40 million) logistics center, covering 13,500 sqm and featuring a high-bay refrigerated warehouse storing over 32,000 pallets of products.
“The new investment continues the sustainable development of the Brașov Dairy Plant, significantly increasing our production and supply capacities for Olympus dairy products. This is a natural evolution, designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality foods as the Olympus brand expands across more European countries.
“For us, this investment validates the quality we have delivered to Romanian consumers for over 25 years and the strong relationships we have built with our local and international partners,” said Dimitrios Kelas, General Manager of Olympus Foods Romania.
The new hall is designed to meet strict energy efficiency and resource-responsibility standards, aiming for minimal environmental impact during both construction and operation.
These principles have guided all investments at the Brașov Dairy Plant since its opening in 2011, and with the start of this new hall, the total value of investments in the plant reaches US$251.9 million (€217.5 million).
“The expansion of the Brașov Dairy Plant’s production and storage capacities is progressing rapidly, with US$81.8 million (€70.7 million) invested over the last five years. Less than two years after the new logistics center became operational, we are starting construction of a hall that will house new production lines and additional storage space.
“I want to emphasize that this new investment, like all previous ones, responds to organic demand growth and is aligned with the milk volumes our more than 1,200 Romanian farmer partners can supply,” said Adrian Cornea, Plant Manager of the Brașov Dairy Plant.
In addition to the new logistics center, major projects implemented so far include a biogas extraction station for wastewater, a photovoltaic system to reduce conventional electricity consumption, and the adoption of technologies that reduce the environmental impact of packaging.
Innovative initiatives include the launch of milk in 100% recyclable r-PET packaging and yogurt cups with detachable labels for easier recycling.
The Brașov Dairy Plant also opened a new Olympus store in December 2025, offering products at producer prices to local communities.
