The new kiosk, located near Atal Udyan, Adabari, aims to make fresh dairy products easily accessible to park-goers, morning walkers, daily commuters, and residents of the locality.

INDIA – Purabi Dairy has unveiled its second prefabricated milk booth under a partnership with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), building on the momentum of its expanding retail footprint.
Like the other booths being set up under this partnership with GMDA, the Adabari kiosk is equipped with cold-chain-enabled visi-coolers, freezers, and insulated storage to maintain product freshness throughout the day.
These prefabricated structures, procured by WAMUL under the World Bank-funded APART project, also support Purabi’s franchise-based kiosk model, which is generating livelihood opportunities for local entrepreneurs.
With each new outlet, Purabi continues to strengthen its role in the transformation of Assam’s dairy sector – supporting farmers, investing in modern processing, and expanding consumer access to safe and nutritious dairy products across the state.
The booth was inaugurated by Shri Narayan Deka, Chairman, GMDA, in the presence of Shri Anant Lal Gyani, IAS, Secretary, Cooperation, Government of Assam, senior officials from GMDA and representatives from Purabi Dairy.
Speaking on the occasion, GMDA Chairman Shri Narayan Deka said: “We are pleased to support Purabi in creating more convenient touchpoints for citizens. These booths are modern, hygienic and strategically located, making it easier for families to access good quality dairy products. Such initiatives align well with GMDA’s efforts to enhance public amenities across the city.”
This Adabari facility is the second in a series of three booths initially identified by GMDA to strengthen last-mile dairy availability across Guwahati.
The first kiosk under the collaboration was inaugurated at Nehru Park on November 20 by Shri Jogen Mohan, Minister of Cooperation, Government of Assam, which drew an encouraging public response. The third booth, planned near Shradhanjali Kanan on RG Baruah Road, will be operational soon.
Purabi products are manufactured by West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd (WAMUL) and marketed by North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL) – a joint venture of the Government of Assam and the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB).
NEDFL has been steadily widening its distribution network to meet the rising demand for quality dairy across the region.
Commenting on the launch, Shri Satya Brata Bose, Managing Director, NEDFL, said: “Purabi’s commitment to accessible nutrition continues with each new retail kiosk we open.
“The Adabari booth will cater to a large urban population, and we are confident it will greatly enhance convenience for consumers. Our partnership with GMDA marks an important milestone in ensuring safe and wholesome dairy products are available closer to people’s homes.”
