Reny Picot invests US$9.31M in its Zamora Plant

The investment will expand production lines for cream cheese and goat cheese

SPAIN – Reny Picot, a dairy manufacturer, has unveiled plans to invest €8 million in its facility located in Fresno de la Ribera, within the Zamora province, aiming to boost production.

The factory, managed by Lácteas Castellano-Leonesas, a subsidiary of the ILAS group, directly employs approximately 80 people and is currently undergoing a new phase of expansion focused on expanding its cream cheese and goat cheese lines, as well as improving its milk and iced water reception facilities.

This project represents an investment of over €8 million. It follows the work carried out a few years ago, when the production area was expanded by more than 5,000 square meters at a cost of over €2 million.

Highlighting the importance of Zamora in Spain’s dairy industry, the province ranks second nationally in the number of dairy sheep and has a substantial population of dairy cows.

Located in Castilla y León, the Zamora plant plays a crucial role in Reny Picot’s operations. The upgrade is expected to create new jobs and strengthen the local economy, reinforcing the company’s long-standing ties to the region.

Company representatives emphasized that the investment reflects Reny Picot’s strategic vision for the future: combining tradition with cutting-edge technology to deliver excellence in dairy manufacturing.

The expansion will also support the company’s sustainability goals, with a focus on reducing environmental impact and optimizing resource use.

During a visit to the site, Fernando Prada, a regional delegate, praised the company’s blend of tradition and innovation during a recent visit to the factory, underscoring the initiative’s role in producing high-quality products and creating rural employment.

The regional delegate emphasised that the Regional Government supports these farms with specific measures, such as aid for sustainable milk production, which last year benefited 667 farms in Zamora with a total of €6 million.

About Reny Picot

The plant processes approximately 20,000 tons of cow’s milk and other milk annually. It is a versatile facility, specializing in products such as traditional cheeses, fresh cheeses, spreadable cheeses, soft cheeses, blue cheeses, cheese desserts, and processed cheeses.

In addition to direct employment, this industry has a significant indirect economic impact, linked to dairy farming. Zamora has 757 dairy farms, making it the province with the largest concentration of dairy sheep in Castile and León and the second largest in Spain, with more than 260,000 head, plus approximately 10,000 dairy cows.
