Danone recalls over 75,000 bottles of creamer due to spoilage concerns

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified this recall as Class II

USA – Danone USA has launched a voluntary recall of over 75,000 bottles of its popular International Delight coffee creamers after reports surfaced of spoilage and related illnesses among consumers.

The recall, which began on February 21, 2025, targets two specific flavors: Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll and Hazelnut.

According to the company, the decision was made following customer complaints about the products’ quality, prompting swift action to address the issue.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has classified this recall as Class II, a designation that suggests the affected products could cause temporary or medically reversible health issues, though the risk of serious harm remains low.

A report by the FDA detailed that Danone received feedback from consumers who experienced spoilage and, in some cases, illness after using the creamers.

While specific symptoms were not disclosed, the agency emphasized that the situation warranted immediate attention to protect public health.

Danone’s distributor, SpartanNash, explained that the recall stems from premature spoilage, which has led to texture problems in the creamers.

This quality issue prompted the company to act out of caution.

“A limited number of these products did not meet our quality standards due to premature spoilage manifesting as a texture issue,”  Danone North America stated.

“Testing data has confirmed this is not a food safety issue, but we chose to recall these products while we address the problem.”

The recalled items are 32-ounce bottles of Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll creamer with a UPC code of 0 41271 01993 3 and a Best By date of July 3, 2025, and Hazelnut creamer with a UPC code of 0 41271 02565 2 and a Best By date of July 2, 2025. Both products also carry the plant code 51-4114 R-S.

These creamers were distributed to retail stores across 31 states, including Florida, Texas, New York, and California, among others.

Consumers who have purchased these items are urged to check their refrigerators and either dispose of the products or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

Reported by health officials, the recall affects a total of 75,654 bottles, with 46,482 being the Cinnabon flavor and 28,572 the Hazelnut variety.

Danone has encouraged customers with concerns to contact its International Delight Consumer Care Line at 1-800-441-3321 for assistance.

As of now, the recall remains ongoing, and consumers are advised to stay informed as the situation develops.
