The system is roughly the equivalent size to 187 typical Australian household solar installations.

AUSTRALIA – AGL has partnered with Bega Group to deliver a 1.23 megawatt rooftop solar system at the company’s Wetherill Park food manufacturing site in Western Sydney, helping reduce emissions at one of its major manufacturing sites.
The rooftop solar installation will span a complex, multi-building site, with more than 2,400 solar panels installed across interconnected rooftops.
The rooftop solar system is estimated to help reduce carbon emissions associated with electricity usage by 9% in its first year of operation, helping Bega Group progress towards its emissions reduction and broader sustainability goals.
Delivered under a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement, the arrangement enables Bega Group to access renewable energy without upfront capital investment, while AGL build, own and operate the system over its life.
AGL General Manager, General Manager, Commercial & Industrial Energy Solutions, Brendan Weinert said the project shows how rooftop solar can help large manufacturers reduce emissions in a way that is practical for their operations.
“For businesses like Bega Group, rooftop solar can be a practical way to cut emissions and reduce reliance on grid electricity,” Mr Weinert said.
“As more businesses look to manage costs and plan for their future energy needs, we’re working with customers to put the right mix of solar and other energy solutions in place.”
This project reflects growing interest from large energy users to transition to solar and other solutions that can help lower costs, reduce emissions and support long-term energy needs.
AGL’s commercial solar offering is designed to help businesses lower operating costs, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and depend less on grid-supplied electricity.
