Grupo Lala redesigns dairy packaging for household reuse

The initiative was presented in Mexico on 23 September 2026 and links the packaging changes to the cultural habit of keeping containers after their original contents have been consumed.

MEXICO – Grupo Lala has introduced redesigned dairy containers for creams, yoghurts, and desserts in Mexico that support household reuse as food storage.

The company said the project formalises the widespread practice of reusing dairy tubs while applying principles of ecodesign, structural durability and food safety.

The new containers use high-density polymers that are free of bisphenol A, or BPA, and other harmful additives, according to the source.

They are designed for prolonged contact with different foods without compromising safety or transferring odours and flavours. The containers also include reinforced geometries and lids with improved airtight seals.

Other technical changes include greater mechanical resistance, improved stackability and tolerance of moderate temperature changes.

The design is intended to allow repeated use without deformation or degradation, while making washing and storage easier in ordinary domestic conditions.

Additionally, the company described the redesign as a circular-economy measure. By encouraging direct reuse at home, the project is intended to lengthen the period before the plastic is discarded and reduce reliance on generic, short-lived plastic containers.

The initiative was presented as part of the company’s response to growing environmental-responsibility requirements for large processed-food manufacturers.

Grupo Lala invests US$3.4M to boost milk consumption in Mexico

Recently, the company announced a significant investment of US$3.42 million aimed at increasing milk consumption across the country.

The initiative is part of a major strategy to address declining milk intake and promote its nutritional benefits among Mexicans.

According to the company, the campaign will focus on educating the public about the importance of milk in a balanced diet.

This comes at a time when milk consumption in Mexico has seen a gradual decline, with many consumers turning to alternative beverages.

Grupo Lala plans to roll out a series of advertisements, community programs, and partnerships with schools to encourage people, especially children, to drink more milk.

The investment will also support improvements in distribution to ensure milk reaches more households nationwide.
