Expected to begin operations in the second quarter of 2028, the new Ituiutaba facility will create approximately 100 new jobs.

BRAZIL – Nestlé has announced an investment of US$382 million (CHF 310 million) by 2028 in the nutrition and health segment in Brazil, including the construction of a new manufacturing facility in Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais, as the company expands capacity in one of its fast-growing and strategic categories.
Representing an investment of approximately US$116.14 million (CHF 94 million), the new facility in Ituiutaba will be dedicated to producing infant formula for both the Brazilian market and export opportunities.
The broader investment plan covers upgrades to Nestlé’s factory for nutrition and health products in Araçatuba, the company’s main hub for infant, medical and adult nutrition products in Brazil, as well as the expansion of key ingredients.
To help meet growing demand for infant nutrition products in Brazil, whey production will be increased by 15% by 2029.
“Nutrition is one of Nestlé’s key categories globally and today, accounts for around 20% of Group sales,” said Jeff Hamilton, CEO of Nestlé Zone Americas. “Brazil is a strategic market for this business, and this investment will expand local production capabilities while increasing access to high-quality, science-based nutrition products.”
It will be Nestlé’s second infant nutrition factory in Brazil and will be equipped with advanced digital and automation technologies to enhance efficiency, product quality, and food safety.
This investment supports Nestlé’s continued expansion in the nutrition and health category in Brazil, one of the company’s most important markets globally.
By increasing local capacity, Nestlé will help meet growing consumer demand while contributing to innovation, job creation and economic development.
Nestlé Chile begins local infant formula production at Cancura plant
In 2025, the company began producing infant formula locally at its Cancura plant in Osorno, making Chile the third Latin American country to manufacture these formulas after Mexico and Brazil.
The initiative, reported by the company, reinforces Nestlé’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and economic development in the dairy industry.
Rodrigo Camacho, executive president of Nestlé Chile, described the move as a strategic step for the company’s growth and its long-term vision for the sector.
“This investment allows us to strengthen our contribution to the national dairy industry while ensuring that families have access to high-quality infant nutrition,” he stated.
The production of infant formula under the Nidal brand began with Nidal 3 in April 2024, followed by Nidal 1 in August.
