Junlebao Dairy expands ESL milk production capacity in southern China

The company is investing in a 15,000-liter Ultra High Temperature (UHT) system paired with a 40-ton aseptic tank.

CHINA – Junlebao Dairy, a dairy company, has announced the introduction of a new high-capacity ultra-high temperature (UHT) system, which is set to enhance its production capabilities in southern China.

In collaboration with APV, a brand under SPX FLOW, the company is investing in a 15,000-litre UHT system designed to meet the surging demand for its Freshjoy extended-shelf-life (ESL) milk.

The decision to expand production stems from a notable increase in consumer demand for ESL milk, particularly in southern China, where the Freshjoy brand has gained substantial traction since its launch in 2019.

Junlebao’s Freshjoy brand is recognised for its long shelf life and fresh taste, making it a popular choice among health-conscious consumers.

The new system, which includes a 40-ton aseptic tank, will enable Junlebao to scale operations efficiently while maintaining the quality and nutritional value that consumers have come to expect.

Hongbin Yang, Vice President of Junlebao Group and General Manager of its premium product business, highlighted the importance of this expansion.

He said, “Freshjoy is a strategic product for Junlebao. Since its launch, we have invested in multiple sets of APV’s InfusionPlus technology, and this new unit is designed to meet our growing requirements while ensuring proven application.”

The new system will not only increase production capacity but also enhance the quality of Junlebao’s ESL milk. The InfusionPlus technology used in the system is designed to flash-heat milk and cool it rapidly, preserving essential nutrients and vitamins that are often lost in traditional UHT processes.

With the commissioning of the new UHT system, the company stated that it is poised to solidify its market position in southern China further and expand its reach across the region.

The company’s commitment to leveraging advanced technology and localised manufacturing aligns with broader trends in the dairy industry, where there is a growing emphasis on quality and sustainability.

Previously, Junlebao sourced UHT skids from SPX FLOW’s facility in Poland. However, to enhance responsiveness to market demands, the new system is being manufactured at SPX FLOW’s Shanghai facility.

This shift to localised production not only facilitates quicker delivery times but also aligns with Junlebao’s strategy to strengthen its operational capabilities within China.
